Father Elias Leyds Has Suddenly Passed Away (1958-2024)
A former Protestant, he studied oil and gas exploration in Delft and then joined the Brothers of Saint John. He worked with Radio Maria in the Netherlands and founded "EWTN Low Countries", a Catholic television in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Leyds came from a wealthy family and grew up in Eindhoven. He once told a Gloria.tv journalist that his mother considered it a miracle that her stubborn son took the vows of obedience. He was indeed a stubborn Catholic in the best sense of the word and wanted to "tell the truth in the Church against all obstacles".
In the early stages of the covid hysteria, in December 2020, Leyds spoke of "vaccine fetishism" and considered it an "idolatry of modern science".
He was not afraid to meet with Roman Rite Catholics and prolifers, and publicly spoke out against the controversial document Amoris Laetitia, homosexual [pseudo] blessings and the heretical German synod that would "lead nowhere".
In a recent video on 18 January, in which he walks through the snow in apparently perfect health, he criticised Francis' homosexual propaganda piece "Fiducia Supplicans". He said that for Francis "theology" no longer had any meaning but had become a political programme.
In an aside, he called Tucho's writings "obscene" and "disgusting".
Against homosexual [pseudo] blessings, he argued that a blessing is always a ritual: "If a blessing has no objective meaning, I can greet my hamster in the morning and consider that a blessing."
And: "A non-ritual blessing is a non-entity. It is a contradiction". The Vatican, Father Leyds adds, turns priests into "clerical prostitutes" who have to satisfy the subjective demands of their various clients.
His final words on the current state of the Church: "What is happening now is absolutely catastrophic".
