Traitor Gone: Francis Makes Fun of Cardinal Turkson

Francis appointed Cardinal Turkson, 73, the former head of the Dicastery for Integral Development, on April 4 as the President of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.

He succeeds Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo, 79, a titular bishop. La Cigüeña (InfoVaticana.com, April 5) calls Turkson’s appointment rightly “a derision.”

Referring to Sánchez, La Cigüeña recalls that he hails from a good family, but he dropped his trousers going against what his family and he himself stood for, like Bishop Taussig. His old friends call Sánchez a traitor, his new friends despise him because the traitor is no longer necessary,

“Without office, Sánchez will find that he is without friends, for the rest of his life. He has entered absolute solitude. Well, perhaps he and Taussig will meet to mourn the universal contempt together.”

Turkson might be a slight bit better than the heretic who was in control of these departments.
