“God Sent" Monsignor Acquitted by Texas Grand Jury
Rossi was accused by Laura Pontikes, a Houston business executive, that he manipulated her into a sexual relationship all while acting as her spiritual adviser, hearing her confessions, soliciting six-figure donations, and counselling her husband on their troubled marriage.
The archdiocese said at the time that Rossi's relationship with Pontikes was inappropriate but consensual.
Rossi assured Pontikes that “God” had brought them together and that their "holy touches" were sanctioned. He was transferred to Beaumont Diocese.
