Francis' Motu Proprio contradicts the Second Vatican Council
Francis' Motu Proprio Traditiones Custodes is "not a good example of the synodality that is so often spoken of" - Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller told EWTN last week. He said the Old Mass was not just about discipline, but about "the apostolic tradition" and the revealed faith. Müller cites the Second Vatican Council, which expressly did not want a rigid uniformity of liturgical rites. Several times Müller opposes Francis' plan to create a uniformed, "rigid" liturgy. By contrast, Müller declares, "We have different rites and a different history of rites in the one Church."
Novus Ordo Was Unprecedented Curtailment of the Rite
Cardinal Raymond Burke said in the same broadcast that the implementation of the liturgical document Sacrosanctum concilium of the Second Vatican Council was "extremely problematic". Personally, he still experienced the full beauty of the Roman Mass when he was in the minor seminary. This beauty was then "dismantled in a most radical way". In the parishes, the changes went - quote - "far beyond the already radical guidelines of the Novus Ordo." Burke believes that it would help to return to the original text of the Pastoral Council. He reminds that after the Council of Trent in the 16th century, Pius V only regulated a rite of Mass that had already existed for more than a thousand years. In contrast, after the Second Vatican Council, the rite was radically curtailed and changed.
US Bishop: Francis Operates with Chainsaw
Francis has used the chainsaw on real or perceived problems with Roman Mass groups when a scalpel would have sufficed. Bishop Thomas Tobin of Providence wrote this on Twitter. He wants to understand Francis' alleged sincere concern, but also to support the faithful of the Traditional Latin Mass.
Roman Mass gives birth to Active Participation of the Heart
Auxiliary Bishop Robert Reed of Boston posted on Saturday a page from his mother's Old Rite hand missal on Twitter. She used to kiss the words of consecration in the moment when the priest knelt after the consecration. Quote: "Sixty years later, her lipstick is still there." For Auxiliary Bishop Reed, the page is a powerful testimony to her faith and Eucharistic devotion.

What irony. The Papal embodiment of "The Spirit of Vatican Council II" (in all its horror) actually contradicts the original "spirit of Vatican Council II."

"Müller cites the Second Vatican Council, which expressly did not want a rigid uniformity of liturgical rites."
This was necessary at the beginning in order to introduce the Novus Ordo. Then they imposed it. Step by step.
