The statistics reviewed by Prof Gans suggest that the High Court very seldom agrees to hear cases unless there IS a real and substantial question of law that was fumbled by the lower court judges/attorneys. And his analysis of the stats show that the High Court effectively agrees with itself 75% of the time - that yes, there was something amiss.

This was a beautiful gesture and a truly Catholic response - to pray for Cardinal Pell as well as all of those imprisoned, victims of sexual abuse, for the workers, etc. I just realized I must have misunderstood Cardinal Pell's circumstances. I just realized I must have misunderstood Cardinal Pell's circumstances. I thought that, no matter what, he must serve 3 years and 8 months. But he serves this time before he can apply for parole.
If his appeal to the high court is successful he will be free. And this appeal could be within the year. Is this correct?
