Germanic Dioceses Rape Good Friday: Intercession for "Overcoming Religious Division"

The liturgical institutes of Germany, Austria and the German-speaking parts of Switzerland have published a supplement to the "Solemn Intercessions" of the Good Friday liturgy.

According to the Novus Ordo Missal, bishops can "permit or order" a special petition in the case of a "grave public emergency".

Two proposals (full texts below) are intended to replace intercession 9, which prays for those in power. They contain the following phrases

- Let us pray for all people suffering from war and terror, violence and injustice (in Ukraine, the Middle East and other regions of the world);

- Almighty, eternal God, help us to overcome all divisions of origin and religion (!), people and language, so that justice and righteousness may flourish among us.
