Novus Ordo: Bishop Schneider Debunks First-Century-Myth

It is a myth that Paul VI’s 1970 Novus Ordo is going back to the first centuries, Bishop Athanasius Schneider, an expert in that field explained to CatholicFamilyNews.com (June 16).

Many Church fathers like Basil the Great, and all archaeological findings show that a facing-the-people liturgy never existed. Everybody was praying facing the Lord, “This is an apostolic rule.”

Further, Schneider suggest that if people honestly want to return to the first centuries they must also accept the fasting rules and the zeal for prayer and penance of that time.
