Benedict XVI: Holocaust was a crime against God and humanity.

The Church rejects all forms of anti-Semitism.

Benedict XVI reiterated this in his address today to the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

The hatred that was manifested during the Holocaust, the Holy Father said, was a crime against God and against humanity, and this terrible chapter of our history can never be forgotten.

Benedict XVI declared that it is essential that the memory of that tragedy strengthens the relations between Christians and Jews, and deepens the desire to heal all wounds. The Pope referred to his visit to Auschwitz in 2006, and the words condemning the Holocaust that he pronounced there.

All of humanity, he said, should continue to lament the savage brutality that was shown against the Jewish people.
