Bahrain: Francis' Personal Friend Condemns "Deviations Such As Homosexuality"
At various meetings, he called for an end to the death penalty and human rights abuses, pointing out that religious freedom should not remain limited to a mere freedom of worship.
On November 4 he spoke to Muslim elders, calling them “brothers in Abraham” and saying that the “great religious traditions" [which contradict each other] must be "the heart" that unites the members of the body of humanity. He wants “to put reality [imposed by the powerful] above ideas [= Catholic doctrine] and people [= oligarchs] above opinions [= truth].”
Addressing an ecumenical audience, he implied that "all Christians" supposedly belonged to Christ's Church. "Unfortunately, we have wounded the holy body of the Lord by our divisions," he lamented, but he believes that "the Holy Spirit who binds all members together is greater than our divisions according to the flesh" - although the main reason for the divisions is Christ.
Grand Imam Ahmed al-Tayyeb of al-Azhar University and personal friend of Francis, called for Sunni and Shia leaders to meet for a joint dialogue. Francis called this proposal “courageous.”
However, al-Tayyeb was even more courageous when he warned the West of “deviations such as the spread of homosexuality" and a "third gender” under the pretext of "freedom" and "human rights."
