"Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, Here I am." - Isaiah 58:9, which is part of today's first reading at Mass. This bas relief in the church of San Pietro in Vinculi in Rome shows St Peter being released from prison by an angel. It is also a reminder that as God has heard our prayers, and released us from the bondage of sin, so we should have mercy and release those who suffer from physical and spiritual bonds.
