Dear brothers and sisters, the Gospel of Sunday, December 16, presents us again John the Baptist, who, by the purity of his proclamation, as Pope Francis reminded us, was able to prepare a people, disoriented and confused, to welcome to the fire of the Holy Spirit brought by Jesus.
Dear brothers and sisters, we live in a time when an epoch-making breakthrough in "climate change" of culture is producing, on one hand, devastating effects in the world and, on the other hand, it's progressively "desertifying" even the protected oasis of the Church. That's why we need prophets who, in this desert, courageously are able to trace the path to a return to the uncontaminated source of the Gospel, interpreted in the light of the holy and two-thousand-year old tradition of the Church, to the purity of the living water of the Spirit, to the boundless ocean of the Father's mercy.
