Francis' Victim Stands Up Against New Duce
"I cannot explain [Francis' injustice] to myself, although I accept it with Christ's patience for the good of the Church.”
Fernández feels “blessed to suffer [Francis'] persecution and slander” for proclaiming "the truth of man's dignity" in circumstances such as the coercion to accept unsafe Covid injections. He regrets that “where mercy is so much preached, in practice some lack a minimum sense of justice.”
He was not accused of anything nor was there a process against him, Fernández notices, “A successor of the apostles is now being replaced without even undertaking what would be a due canonical process to remove a parish priest.”
Fernández was informed that he had “committed no crime” but had "not been obedient" to Francis nor had he been in "sufficient" [Covid] communion with the other Puerto Rico bishops. Supposing that Fernández is a careerist, Rome told him that if he resigns voluntary, he could at some point be given some other position. For Fernández, this offer "in fact proves my innocence.”
Nevertheless, he didn't swallow the bait because he “did not want to become an accomplice of a totally unjust action." Even after the fact, "I am reluctant to think that it could happen in our Church.”
His dismissal made him realise that “the governance of the Church is apostolic and not pyramidal, synodal and not autocratic." He explains that many bishops have been watching with concern what is happening in the Church "and have been reluctant to believe what is happening.”
