Francis will impose the lectionary and the calendar of the New Mass on the traditional Rite, reliable sources close to the Holy See told Pro Tridentina Malta.
Beginning with the First Sunday of Advent 2018 a new missal for a changed "Old Rite" should be available. The Vatican will allow a two-year period of transition. Pro Tridentina Malta believes that institutes like the Fraternity of Saint Peter will apply for an exemption but expects all requests to be turned down.
Such a measure could only be understood as a targeted provocation of the Vatican in order to get rid of the Old Rite Catholics.
