Pope Leo XIV Appoints
Bishop in California - He Has Apologized to Homosexuals
Born on July 17, 1969, in Laredo, Texas, Monsignor Bejarano was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Stockton on August 15, 1998.
On February 27, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of San Diego, run by
âAll Are Welcomeâ Eucharist
In June 2024, Bishop Bejarano presided over an âAll Are Welcomeâ Eucharist at St. John the Evangelist Parish in San Diego. The service was presented as an outreach to practicing homosexuals.
At the end of the service, he offered a special blessing for homosexuals: "Help us embrace that our beloved LGBTQ+ siblings and all who feel marginalized by the Church are beautifully and wonderfully made in Your image."
He continued: "Bless our LGBTQ ministry so that we may continue to grow by your grace and bring all people to the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ."
Public Apology to Homosexuals (2025)
On July 13, 2025, Monsignor Bejarano again presided over an âAll Are Welcomeâ Eucharist at St. John the Evangelist Church.
During this liturgy, Bishop Bejarano offered a public apology on behalf of the Church for what he described as pain and marginalization experienced by homosexuals, declaring:
âI apologize for the pain and suffering that I and the Church have caused many of you. I apologize for the stigma and trauma we have caused by telling others that they are not valued and not worthy of Godâs love.â
Transvestite Spoke at Homosex Eucharist
During the 2025 Eucharist, transvestite Murray-Ramirez had been permitted to speak at the ambo.
Afterwards, he praised the bishopâs homily: âThe bishopâs sermon was powerful and focused on the fact that God loves us all the way we are.â
Commitment to Imigration Advocacy
Needless to say, the Hispanic bishop Bejarano has a longstanding commitment to illegal immigrants.
He has ministered in migrant camps, advocated publicly for immigrant families, and consistently emphasized migration as a primary moral priority of the Church.
Symbol of Leo XIVâs Appointsments
Bishop Bejaranoâs appointment to Monterey exemplifies the current episcopal trend: the elevation of clergy known primarily for pro-homosexual outreach and pro-immigration activism.
