Don't forget that the prophecy is a warning in advance of the punishment from heaven when people sin a lot, in order to make people repent and come to God. If people repent, God may not punish or may make the punishment less. Like the story of the prophet Jonah in the Bible, for example. The people of Nineveh repented after Jonah announced that God would punish them, causing all the people of Nineveh to repent and repair their sins. So God did not punish as the prophet Jonah predicted. Therefore, the prophecy can change, depending on people's repentance to God. God is full of mercy and does everything according to His will.

In fact, the story of the adulterous woman has an interesting history in the early Church. Many ancient scriptures do not include this story. Some of them appear in other chapters of John's Gospel, not in 8:1-11 as we do today. Even worse, some appear in the Gospel of Luke. Some Bible scholars say that the original text is more likely to be in Luke's Gospel, because Luke focuses more on sinners, women, and the compassion of Jesus than other evangelists.
All this suggests that Christians initially left the story of the adulterous woman out of the Bible. When later Christians wanted to bring it back into the Bible, they were not sure where it was originally placed.
One reason why the story was left out of the Bible for a time was because some did not understand why Jesus would have to feel sorry for a woman caught in adultery, since the Bible clearly states that "whoever commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, both of them shall surely be put to death" (Lev. 20:10). So why would he have to obstruct justice? Aren't mercy and leniency of the law a sign of weakness?
