¿Saben ustedes que cinco españoles junto a otros veintiún católicos fueron crucificados el 5 de febrero de 1597 en Nagasaki, Japón? Antes fueron obligados a recorrer a pie 800 kilómetros. Seis de los crucificados eran misioneros.
Los españoles que fueron martirizados en la cruz: San Pedro Bautista (Ávila), San Martín de la Ascensión (Beasain, Guipúzcoa), San Felipe de Jesús (Nueva España, hijo de Alonso de las Casas y Antonia Martínez) , San Francisco Blanco (Monterrey, Galicia) y San Francisco Andrade (La Parrilla, Valladolid).
¿Quién dio la orden de que fueran crucificados? El Gran Señor Toyotomi Hideyoshi, el cual, había sustituido a Oda Nobunaga quien había permitido que la Compañía de Jesús se instalara en sus dominios con el fin de mejorar las relaciones comerciales con España y Portugal.

From confronting Communism in China and North Korea to confronting poverty in South America and Africa to confronting atheism in the West, Frank Duff’s visionary apostolate has amassed tens of millions of followers.
As part of the celebrations for their centenary, the Legion are running a series of Men’s Conferences throughout the year. The Morning Star Hostel, which provides accommodation, food and spiritual support for men in need, has hosted the first two events.
