Betrayal: The Catholic Action League of Massachusetts criticized Boston Cardinal Sean O'Malley for having attending on Sunday the 2017 Profile in Courage Award event, where former U.S. President Obama was honored. The League stressed that Obama is, "the most pro-abortion president" in U.S. history and that O'Malley's presence displayed an, "appalling betrayal of the pro-life movement." A Catholic: The new President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, is a practicing Catholic, Bishop Lazarus You Heung-sik of Daejeon told the Italian agency SIR. The president's baptismal name is Timothy. Bishop You has already asked the new president to abolish the death penalty and Moon has told him that he is well disposed to do so. Discredited: Danny Gallagher, the star witness in the Philadelphia District Attorney's ongoing witch-hunt against the Catholic Church, has now been totally discredited. Gallagher's bogus testimony has sent three priests and a Catholic schoolteacher for many years to prison. Now retired Detective Joseph Walsh—the prosecution’s own lead investigator into Gallagher’s lurid tales of being violently sexually abused—has filed a 12 page affidavit exposing Gallagher’s claims as a pack of lies. More World? After two years, the Diocese of Rodez, France, is concluding its diocesan synod. Rodez has 24 priests for 36 over-aged parishes. Two decades ago it had over 300 parishes. Funerals are now celebrated by lay-people. In the face of this secularization, Rodez Bishop François Fonlupt is still convinced that it, "remains important to open up to the world." Riposte Catholique calls this, "driving against the wall while honking." Parole Denied: Heather Cook, the former Episcopal suffragan bishop who is serving a seven-year prison sentence for killing a Baltimore bicyclist and father of two, in 2014 while driving drunk and texting, saw her request for parole, "denied outright" late Tuesday morning. Parole was denied because Cook, "took no responsibility" and "showed no remorse" for her actions during the 90-minute hearing. At the time of the accident, Cook was the No. 2 official in the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland.

Bible thumpers are forever criticizing Catholics for being "non-biblical" and, in this case, they are correct. Paul wrote in Romans:

The Catholic Church in Korea has for a long been trying to get capital punishment abolished even though the country has not carried out an execution since 1997. This latest petition from the church in So. Korea coincides with Pope Francis' plea to end the death penalty. I would like to know if the latest appeal from Bishop Lazarus You Heung-sik of So. Korea and the Pope also includes the execution of unborn babies? And, if it does, why not emphatically stress the importance of eliminating abortion especially since South Korea has the highest abortion rate in the world. Nearly half of all pregnancies end in abortion. Each year, almost as many Korean children are aborted as are allowed to see the light of day.

The sheer dimensions of this South Korean abortion holocaust are stunning. One source gives a figure of 340,000 abortions for 2012, a year in which the entire country only saw 440,000 live births.academic.oup.com/…/Abortion-in-Sou… Perhaps 20 million children have been aborted over the last half century, a huge number for a country which is only the size of Indiana or Portugal—and over six times the number of military and civilian casualties the country suffered during the Korean War.

Pope Francis doesn't talk about abortion that often but he's quick to go full bore leftist politician on important "biblical" issues like the death penalty, climate change, Donald Trump, and making sure that gays feel good about their sins.
