Stormy Waters of Lent Prepare for Mystery of the Eucharist.
The disciples alone on the boat at night is a symbol of our Lenten preparation for the greatest of God’s gifts to us... Himself in the Holy Mass instituted on Holy Thursday night. Similar to Lent, the time in the boat is like the time of the Old Testament preparing for the Incarnation. It is dark, stormy, ...and a struggle. Then Our Lord comes in the 4th Watch of the Night (read here after 4 weeks of Advent) and rescues His followers and conquers all opposing forces. We are now in the boat and struggling in our Lent, but He will surely come and give us what it takes to arrive safe at the shores ...and enter more deeply into the mysterious gifts He has planned for us.
