Francis Uses "Sedevacantism" to Manipulate
When asked in a general way about how he was facing criticism, Francis came up with "Sedevacantists". His words were:
For example, there is a group, a few people, who recognise only the popes up to Pius XII. These are very few people, small groups.
A Spanish magazine showed a few weeks ago a list of 22 groups who believe that the Chair of Saint Peter is vacant. But they are small groups. They will integrate.
The magazine mentioned is "Pliego", a supplement of the Spanish anti-Catholic Marist magazine "Vida Nueva", 9-16 March, 2024.
The title of the issue was "Bergoglio is not the Pope. The (un)reasons of the current sedevacantism".
The article, written by Father Luis Santamaría del Río, intended to discredit fringe groups and people who claim that the resignation of Benedict and the election of Francis were invalid. It was not about those who claim that Pius XII was the "last pope".
The article began with the Franciscan friar Alexis Bugnolo, who wrote against Francis, claiming that Benedict XVI remained Pope. However, after Benedict's death, Bugnolo held a conclave in a Roman hotel with people from Rome in order "to elect" Jorge Bergoglio as the new true Pope, and thus - as Francis said in the recent interview - to "integrate" himself into the Church.
Besides Bugnolo, the "Pliego" article presents a potpourri of Catholics, Neoconservatives, guru cults, false revelations, or plainly crazy groups. Among them:
