Brutalism: Ferrara Has A New "Church" (Pictures)
From the outside, it looks like a train station. It is made out of "natural materials" in particular reeds and concrete to pay homage to environmentalism - as if natural materials were something new in church building.
Inside, the alleged church resembles an air-raid shelter or execution chamber with menacing grey walls. A tank barrier is used as Eucharistic table and the President's chair resembles a home sitting sauna. The floor reminds of a kitchen or toilet.
The building was designed by “Benedetta Tagliabue - Miralles Tagliabue EMBT” from Barcelona, an architecture firm specialist in wellness and care. They designed a meditation pavilion in Unazuki, Japan (1993) and a Buddhist temple in Tenerife (under construction).
