Christ Himself: In an interview with the Wanderer Cardinal Raymond Burke has stated that the changes made in the final report of last year’s Synod of Bishops were an improvement, but – quote – “I do not think they were sufficient.” The Cardinal recalls that the Christian doctrine on divorce is clear. Quote: “It is the word of Christ Himself Who said, «Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery.»”

Strange Ruling: Yesterday Pope Francis ruled that Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero died in 1980 as a martyr “in hatred of the faith”. This means that Romero will be beatified without a miracle. The process was stalled by John Paul II and Benedict XVI. Romero was allegedly killed by the Intelligence Agency of El Salvador that murdered for political and not for religious reasons. The murder belonged to the long conflict between U.S.-backed governments and Marxist rebels that killed 75000 persons.

Thank you Charlie Hebdo: Hundreds of Muslim students, armed with iron bars and sticks, ransacked a Christian boy school in Bannu, northern Pakistan, in protest at anti-Islam cartoons published by Charlie Hebdo. The protesters injured four students. Nasir Saeed, Christian director of the “Centre for Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement” said: “It is very sad that Islamic radicals attack Pakistani Christians because of Charlie Hebdo. Christians condemn the blasphemous cartoons.”

Tough Vocation: The blog cartusialover.wordpress.com has published an article about Dom Dysmas de Lassus, the recently elected prior general of the Carthusians. Until 2012 he was master of novices in the Grande-Chartreuse in France. Dom Dysmas has recounted that in these 22 years he had contact with 650 aspirants for the Carthusian life. Only 63 of them where accepted of which only 12 reached solemn profession.
