St John of Matha.
In the Extraordinary Form calendar, 8 February is the feast of St John of Matha, founder of the Trinitarians who were dedicated to the liberation of Christians enslaved by Muslim traders and pirates in the 12th/13th centuries. The Trinitarians were sent to the slave markets to buy the Christian slaves and set them free! This painting of St John of Matha in the heavenly court is from the Trinitarian church in Trastevere, Rome.
