Priest Helped IRA To Kill Ten
Father Patrick Ryan, 91, said he helped smuggle weapons and explosives from Libya used by the IRA (Irish Republican Army) in the 1982 Hyde Park (five British soldiers dead) and 1984 Brighton Grand Hotel (five dead) bomb attacks.
When asked about his involvement, Ryan answered on a BBC Spotlight documentary, “Absolutely, 100%. I would like to have been much more effective, but we didn't do too badly.”
In 1988, an effort to extradite Father Ryan to Britain from Belgium, where he was arrested with cash and bomb-making materials, was unsuccessful.
