Priest Helped IRA To Kill Ten

Father Patrick Ryan, 91, said he helped smuggle weapons and explosives from Libya used by the IRA (Irish Republican Army) in the 1982 Hyde Park (five British soldiers dead) and 1984 Brighton Grand Hotel (five dead) bomb attacks.

When asked about his involvement, Ryan answered on a BBC Spotlight documentary, “Absolutely, 100%. I would like to have been much more effective, but we didn't do too badly.”

In 1988, an effort to extradite Father Ryan to Britain from Belgium, where he was arrested with cash and bomb-making materials, was unsuccessful.

@Tom Jones > Are you referencing his status as a priest or that of an Irish freedom fighter?

@frawley You asked "Would you fight back if another country invaded your homeland?" Is blowing up the marching band (7 of them at Regent's Park) fighting back?
