Paris: Are These Three on the List?
The Nuncio’s three candidates for Paris are the heretical Marseille Archbishop Jean-Marc Aveline, 63; Ajaccio Bishop François-Xavier Bustillo, 53, a Franciscan who grew up in Spain; and the secularised Jesuit Provincial François Boëdec, 59.
The appointment is expected for Easter. According to a 1924 agreement, the name will first be communicated secretly to the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, who will pass it on to the Minister of the Interior, who will inform the President.
ParisMatch.com (March 3) believes that Francis’ preferred candidate is Boëdec, a PhD in political science.
