Fatima: State Deeply Embarrasses Church
It's “a possibility” to celebrate the May 13 anniversary of the Marian apparitions in Fatima, the Portuguese Minister of Health, Marta Temido, said on May 2, "as long as this is an option for the organisers and the health rules are complied with.”
However, Father Carlos Cabecinhas, the rector of the shrine, had already cancelled all celebrations on April 6 because of the coronavirus. Fatima Cardinal Marto presented this as “deep act of Faith” - although it was the contrary.
Cabecinhas admitted that he was taken "by surprise" by the minister's proposal and promised an answer.
It came on May 4. Cabecinhas stated that he will not allow any pilgrimages and that the shrine will be “completely locked” on May 12/13 (video below).
This is the first time in history that Fatima will be without pilgrims on these days.
