The Practice of the Presence of God: Fr. Gregory Pine Unpacks Brother Lawrence's Classic
"The Christian life, while often difficult, need not be overly complicated." Popular Dominican author and speaker Father Gregory Pine joins us to share a life-changing spiritual secret. Why do we turn prayer into a burdensome checklist of complex techniques? Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection, a 17th-century lay brother, discovered that the grandest truths of the faith are meant to be lived out right in the middle of our daily, mundane tasks. Father Gregory Pine, OP, steps into the studio to introduce the latest season of the acclaimed Catholic Classics podcast by Ascension, guiding modern audiences through The Practice of the Presence of God. Father Gregory explains how this unique, "readable yet faithful" translation by Professor Matthew Minard strips away dense, archaic phrasing to give 21st-century readers an accessible handle on silent prayer. Co-hosting alongside his sister, a busy mother of …More

This is Matthew Ayegra.
Eleven years ago, he was killed by Islamic extremists, along with 20 others.
Matthew was not a Christian.
But while held captive, he watched the other prisoners. He saw their faith. Their calm. Their courage. One by one, they were told to deny Christ. One by one, they refused.
That witness changed him.
When it was Matthew’s turn and he was told to renounce Christ, he answered with words that still stop people cold:
“Their God is my God.”
He chose Christ knowing it would cost him his life.

Pope Leo Urges Political Talks As Violence Intensifies In Gaza And West Bank | APT
Pope Leo has renewed his appeal for peace in the Holy Land, expressing deep concern over escalating violence in Gaza and the West Bank. Speaking during the Angelus prayer at Castel Gandolfo, he called for negotiations aimed at achieving a just political solution based on equal dignity and equal rights for all. The pontiff also warned that intensified military operations across the Middle East are putting civilians at greater risk while worsening shortages of drinking water and electricity.

The Negro Conley's Confession That He Was Frank's Accomplice and Events Leading Up to Trial.
Chapter VI.
"He (Leo Frank) told me that he had picked up a girl back there and had let her fall, and that her head had hit against something—he didn't what it was—and for me to move her, and I hollered and told him the girl was dead."
With this startling accusation Jim Conley introduced his third confession. Under the rack of a merciless third degree, continued through the long afternoon of May 29, he weakened or became desperate toward the last and came out with his remarkable affidavit, which laid the responsibility for the killing of Mary Phagan directly upon the shoulders of the young factory superintendent.
Either it was all true or all false. If it were true, the negro simply had wilted under the ceaseless fire of the detectives' questions and had decided …

WHITE SMOKE 1958 -40- 11.00 am

Here is the irrefutable proof that things went wrong during the first session of the conclave2 on the morning of 27 October 1958.
Indeed, black smoke appeared shortly before 11 o’clock, which should not have happened since, following the low Mass at 9 o’clock, there was just over an hour left to hold two rounds of voting, which is impossible. We must therefore conclude that there was only one ballot, a fact noted by everyone, and by journalists in particular, which led the Vatican to issue a bizarre clarification, namely that it should be considered that there had been two ballots, as stipulated in Pius XII’s Apostolic Constitution!
The day before, the Vatican itself had stated, at the end of the 40-minute transition period, that the white smoke was to be considered black, following an illegal communication from within the conclave.
Conclusion: we are in the midst of a farce, which is logical since the Holy Spirit was driven out by the invalid abdication of Pius XII’s successor, yet was …More

They Have Started Summoning Witnesses and Are Quoted as Having Agreed to Go to Trial.
That Attorneys Reuben R. Arnold and Luther Z. Rosser, representing Leo M. Frank, charged with the Mary Phagan murder, have decided to go to trial Monday when the case is called was information made public Friday from an apparently reliable source. Coupled with this, and apparently making the trial doubly sure, is the news that the defense has started summoning its witnesses and making final preparations for the actual trial.
Solicitor Hugh M. Dorsey reiterated Friday his statement in regard to the stand the state has taken and declared that he would oppose every move for continuance, unless there should prove an extraordinary reason for putting it off.
Judge L. S. Roan who will conduct the trial and who was slightly ill Thursday, had apparently …

Sedevacantist Bishop Michael Mary Excommunicated

Bishop Hugh Gilbert of Aberdeen, Scotland, declared Fr. Michael Mary Sim, 72, Superior of the Transalpine Redemptorists, excommunicated on July 25.
After publically embracing the religion of sedevacantism in May, he was found guilty of schism. Although the consecration as Sedevacantist bishop took place on the same day the diocesan judgment was published, Bishop Gilbert clarified that the canonical trial had been completed before the ceremony and therefore did not include the new offense in its verdict.
Bishop Gilbert stated that Fr. Michael Mary was found guilty on multiple ecclesiastical charges, the most serious being schism: "As a result, he is declared to be excommunicated, dismissed from ecclesiastical office, and prohibited from the celebration of Mass or the other sacraments."
The diocese said the Vatican's competent dicasteries had been informed throughout the process.
Bishop Gilbert also noted that the penalties could be lifted should Fr. Michael Mary sincerely repent and seek …More

More holiness, more doctrine, and a reverent liturgy: what 11,000 Brazilian young people are asking of the Church

Survey: Brazilian Catholic Youth Seek Stronger Doctrine, Reverent Liturgy

Young Catholics in Brazil are expressing a desire for deeper faith formation, greater emphasis on holiness, and well-celebrated liturgy, while also voicing frustration with what they see as an excessive focus on sociopolitical issues in the Church, according to a national survey presented to the Brazilian Bishops' Conference (CNBB).
The 2025 survey, conducted by the CNBB's Episcopal Commission for Youth with academic partners, gathered responses from more than 11,000 Catholics aged 12 to 29 across Brazil. It used a voluntary online questionnaire rather than a representative random sample.
According to the partial results (document below), holiness and the Christian faith were the most frequently cited topics of interest among respondents.
Many also expressed a desire for stronger formation in Catholic teaching, greater emphasis on Scripture and the Eucharist, and well-celebrated liturgy.
Asked what makes participation in the Church more difficult, respondents most often pointed to a lack …More
