Feast of the Holy Family of Nazareth,
Jesus, Mary & Joseph
The Holy Family is Christianity’s model family. Jesus, Mary & Joseph lived the Gospel Counsels of Chastity, Poverty & Obedience in their Perfection. This model family lived Perfect Chastity as Virgins. This model family was “poor” in as much as they lived perfectly detached from material goods. And they lived Perfect Obedience to God’s order of the family, Joseph being the head of the family, Mary was subject to Joseph and Jesus subject to His Parents. This was profound as Jesus was God Incarnate, the Creator of both Mary & Joseph, but He voluntarily respected the Natural Law of the family and obeyed His Parents. Mary, in Grace, was superior to Joseph, but She too, out of respect for the Natural Order of the family was subject to her husband Joseph.
