Altar Servers Meet Francis: Few Participants But Lots of Litter and Rubbish

Francis received the international pilgrimage of altar servers in St Peter's Square on Tuesday.

He told them to share the joy of belonging to Jesus and to be present to their neighbours "without judgement or prejudice".

@Michi Gini published screenshots of the Vatican media's live coverage, which couldn't help but show the many empty chairs.

Mountain Butorac (TheCatholicTraveler.com) added on Wednesday that after Francis' event with the altar boys, St Peter's Square was completely trashed, full of rubbish and plastic bottles:

"I've been here for hundreds of events and I've never seen it like this - including World Youth Day and John Paul II's funeral, both of which had over a million participants."

They won’t even know who Frankie is: just a fat old man who doesn’t speak their language. Non est hic.

Altaardienaren zijn jongens die misdienaar zijn.

Probably more people come to any showplace in Rome than to see Francis. Well, there’s a lot of garbage because people come like they go to the movies - eat popcorn, drink cola, listen to the Francis show. It is obvious that they have no piety towards him. By the way, how much does it cost to enter this show? Maybe young people come there because it is the cheapest show in Rome?
