Spain: Horses Enter a Church (Video)
The fifteenth century San Miguel Church in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, was used on July 7 to produce a video about Carthusian horses (video below).
Asidonia-Jerez Diocese clarified on July 8 that this happened without the bishop’s knowledge who would never have allowed this.
For the bishop it makes no sense to invoke privileges granted to some equestrian orders to ride horses inside some churches when all is about a promotional video, not a religious service.
The local parish priest acknowledged his mistake although the recording was made in a respectful silence behind closed doors after the Blessed Sacrament was removed.
As an act of atonement, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for two hours every evening until July 14 in San Miguel.
