Priest Commits Suicide

Versailles Bishop Luc Crepy, 64 (927’000 Catholics, 180 priests), France, has announced the death of Father François de Foucauld, 50, who took his own life.

His body was found on June 30 in the forest of Rambouillet, south-west of Paris.

De Foucauld was a priest for 18 years. He had been in several parishes of the diocese. Due to difficulties in the exercise of his ministry, he had no mission since September 2021.

Around 2018 in Bois-d’Arcy, De Foucauld became famous with his monthly “La messe des curieux" [Mass of the Curious] with special light effects to rediscover the meaning and the symbols of Mass. The event was advertised through posters and flyers throughout the parish.

The parish of Fontenay wrote about the suicide, “Feelings of guilt are unavoidable in these circumstances, and must be vigorously rejected; they do not come from God.”

May Our Lady obtain for him the grace of final repentance - there is no time with God. RIP.

"rediscover the meaning and the symbols of Mass." There is no meaning and symbols of the Novus Ordo, but hundreds in the Tridentine Latin Mass. If this priest (May he rest in Peace), was exploring the Novus Ordo, it was a waste of time.....but if he was trying to ntroduce the mysteries, meaning and symbolism of the Tridentine Latin Mass, it was a great project and apostolate.

God be merciful unto him.
