Gregorian Mass
A Gregorian Mass series is 30 hl. Masses celebrated on thirty consecutive days for poor souls (deceased) who are to be freed from Purgatory. One can also have them read for oneself in the belief that they will benefit one after death. These extraordinarily effective masses go back to Pope Gregory the Great. When he was still abbot of St. Andrew's, he had thirty Masses celebrated in succession for a deceased monk Justus. After the expiration of these days, the deceased monk reported to the pope in a vision and communicated his release from the place of purification.

Masses of Passion
Passion Masses are 6 HL. Masses read under the aspect of the Passion of Christ for a particular person. This practice was approved and recommended by Pope Clement XII (1730-1740), which is why they are also called "Clementine Masses".
