Francis Receives "Priest Killer"
She gave Francis a kachina doll, which represents a demon revered by American Indians. The kachinas vary from community to community and can represent anything from the sun, stars, insects or anything from nature or the cosmos.
Francis' kachina wears a black mask and holds a bloody knife. McCain calls the figure "a warrior".
It could be a “Priest Killer” kachina, of which below are other examples murdering missionaries, mostly Franciscans. It could also be a Hopi Black Ogre called Nataska, a demonic figure that comes for misbehaving children to eat them.
