Probably the Next Pope?
PaixLiturgique.fr (28 February) has published a long article on Cardinal Pietro Parolin, calling him a true progressivist.
- If elected Pope, Parolin would take the fatal name of John XXIV.
- Parolin would be less ineffective than Francis.
- As a young priest he was pushed by Cardinal Achille Silvestrini, the leader of the anti-Catholic wing of the Vatican.
- Benedict XVI's Secretary of State Bertone removed Parolin from the Roman Curia and sent him as nuncio to Venezuela, where Cardinal Bergoglio held him in high esteem.
- Cardinal Silvestrini (1923-2019) persuaded Francis to replace Cardinal Bertone with Parolin.
- Parolin is guilty of the Holy See's disastrous 2018 agreement with China, under which China also appointed married bishops.
- Cardinal Zen called Parolin a 'man of little faith' who 'sold out the Catholic Church to the Communist government'.

Not true.
Pacelli was very much expected to be pope.
Montini was very much expected to be pope.
Did Pacelli and Montini want to be Pope, and were they engaged in politicing and promoting themselves? It's just an Italian wisdom proverb not to be taken too literally.
