1) It is clearly established that Edith Stein and her sister were gassed to death in Auschwitz and never survived. That is why she was declared a Martyr of the Church. Edith Stein was punished as a Catholic religious in retaliation after the Dutch Catholic episcopacy made a public proclamation condemning the Jewish genocide taking place.
2) Secondly, while you may want to dispute whether Jews were killed by gassing vs. some other means like starvation and brutality, the difference means little when the outcome is an unjust, violent death for each and every Jew who died in those camps. It's absolutely inhuman before God to debate "how" they died, when in fact, they were killed -- one way or another -- for the mere fact they were Jewish.
Countless Jews were rounded up like mere cattle without regard for their human dignity, their family ties or their innocence, shoved into cargo trains and transported to camps where they were treated like animals. Children were savagely torn away from their parents, with most never seeing their parents -- or even siblings -- again in this life. Many Catholic religious and other Christians were also punished for various reasons, such as opposing the pogroms.
Read the account of Corrie Ten Boom, a Christian whose family tried to assist and hide Jews in their home and help others escape (assisting as many as 800 Jews altogether) until they were betrayed by an informant, so that her family suffered the same fate of being sent to a concentration camp with the very Jews they were trying to save.
She describes the incredible brutality in the camps where Jews were regularly put to death.
3) I corrected my statement to say Saint Maximillian Kolbe stood for "another prisoner" -- along with others being starved to death. The concentration camps were extermination centers.
In the video I linked to above, the Jewish man said his Jewish cousin was put into forced labor at the camps in the clothing processing plant for dead prisoners. THAT is how she learned that both of her parents had been killed when she found their clothing among the bins of clothing from dead prisoners she was tasked with sorting. Very few survived the brutal conditions, the murders and beatings, and the starvation which took place in those camps.
It's absolutely debasing to haggle over the "means" used to kill so many Jews, and I won't participate in it.

@Pierre Palesti Actually, that's not true, and it's shocking that anyone would actually try to assert something so absurd when the historical record attests to the fact the hundreds of thousands of Jews -- and Christians and Catholics (Priests, etc., e.g. Maximillian Kolbe who stood in for a Jew another prisoner) -- were gassed and/or starved or worked to death.

There were delousing chambers, and the presence of these were also used to deceive hundreds of thousands of Jews into entering what were actually the similar chambers used as gas chambers.

Please....it's getting to the point where some are falling out of touch with reality. There are clearly some questionable aspects about the aftermath of his death, but Charlie Kirk was killed in the presence of hundreds of witnesses with blood pouring out of his neck. WHO did it and WHY, is really the question. It has been confirmed an autopsy was done; his grave has not been disclosed to protect it from profanation; and the rest of the facts are being held and investigated in preparation for a trial so as not to compromise the integrity of the proceedings and the jury pool.

@Willys B Ramirez Appreciate your humor...! I thought of another example. In the United States we place our hand over our hearts when reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.. I believe it's basic human "body language" and instinct on how to express certain sentiments, loyalty, and dedication with one's hands and other bodily gestures which inspired that practice, not copying from the Blessed Virgin Mary or the Saints (obviously).
In fact, I saw a video of a squirrel in its nest that got terrified by a sudden burst of thunder. What did that little critter do? It sat bolt upright and placed its little paw over its chest in a gesture of alarm and sat there composing itself, just like a human would....!
It certainly wasn't copying a human....these are just gestures that naturally evince themselves based on how God "wired" and fashioned our bodies and minds.
