A simple photo on Facebook. Here we have two people with arms stretched out like Jesus. The interpretation of the image or the idea of Spiritual messaging is diverse. Seek your own interpretation.. There is nothing on this planet that does not recreate itself, birth itself. Corn seed, dolphins, and even clouds imitate themselves again and again over millennia. The archetype of Motherhood is everywhere and in every culture and religion.

books about Iconography offer a deep theologically based discourse on iconography. Catholic, Episcopalian, Orthodox, and traditional Christian perspectives are diverse yet have a commonality in Christ’s teachings. This collection of books on Iconography challenges our understanding of traditional and modern/contemporary arts and the theology within that has endured. Her books on iconography are all available on Amazon, but please also support smaller companies like Lulu. Thank you. link to buy: sacrediconretreat.com/books-on-iconography/
Leo XIV urged all the Catholic faithful to join in a spiritual campaign this Friday for peace in the world. August 22 is the feast of the Queenship of Mary, according to the Novus Ordo liturgical calendar, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the traditional calendar of the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church. Addressing the crowd, Leo said: Mary is the Mother of believers here on earth and is also invoked as Queen of Peace. As our earth continues to be wounded by wars in the Holy Land, in Ukraine, and in many other regions of the world, I invite all the faithful to live the day of August 22 A Sword will Pierce Your Soul - San Miguel Icons
The balance of images of women is heavy on the side of Mary, the Queen of Contemplation. Yes, this is the highest honor, but ask your friends how much time they spend contemplating, or in prayer, and you shall see the church has failed to teach us mystical thought and open heart. Ancient prayer traditions and contemplation have been passed from generation to generation and are still alive today. Recitations of love and reflection, alone or in a group are powerful, they nurture the soul, fuel the heart, and uplift the spirit. We focus a great deal on human needs, the sick, isolated, aged, imprisoned, and in peril. It may be prudent to add our devotion and respect for God’s plan revealed on Earth. Our contemporary society does not allow us time to pause long enough to appreciate our delicate, at times imperceptible relationship to the natural order that surrounds us. buy book: Amazon.com

Hand of God The motif of the hand, with no body attached, found in the corners of feast day icons, is both curious and delightful. The addition of a small hand to the icon is a simple and straightforward way to express God's presence in all things. God is always present and constantly accessible. The single painted hand in iconography at the top symbolizes God. This hand includes the hand of Christ already depicted in the event. It emerges from a small cloud, or an abstracted quarter circle trimmed in red, white, or black. Usually, part of the forearm is shown with an extended hand, an open palm, or sometimes with the fingers spread, palm down. Painting Hands in Iconography - San Miguel Icons
A sword did pierced my soul when I decided to break step with Orthodox Iconography and use the practice to examine humanities relationship with Mother Earth. Change is upon us; every nation is affected, and every society feels the consequences of unbridled greed and waste. I believe we live on Holy Ground, even with climate change and the anxiety it may provoke. We are still miles from the idea that we could go extinct like the dinosaurs. Humanity thinks it is the last revelation of God, and eternal. Yet humans are just one more evolution happening over millennia.
The National Rifle Association should stick to rifles that shoot at a deer or a duck with one bullet and stop defending our right to own assault rifles in our homes. The NRA does not support the Patriot Act. No country needs rapid fire weapons on hand to attack what they do not like. Human dignity has been losing ground over the past few decades because weapons are Big Business Outside the US. Our un-ethical behavior is leading us all away from a state of well being. We have become vulnerable to the behaviors of those who bear arms. I want to ask where these weapons have been coming from. The NRA is big business outside the US. Their memberships’ agenda is not driven by spirit or peace in the world but rather by money and power. If God is alive in us, how can we not feel a good bit of shame and sadness for the development of the gun industry and the war machines our taxes support. All rapid fire guns are designed to murder, traumatize, injure, hurt, destroy, assault, ravish, violate …
US spent $17.9 BILLION on military aid to Israel since the war in Gaza, a land mass of 25 miles. Think about this,... you would think there is nothing left, no buildings or people, So who is making the money on the war? With that much money, we could incarcerate the leaders and force them to talk peace instead of mass killing and destruction.
Only a few days to decide. Please join us in TEXAS for a week of reflection on new beginnings with the Baptism of Jesus. Lots of new ways to look at this sacrament. peace Home - Sacred Icon Retreat
We perhaps cannot avoid the evolution of technology. But we can commit to consciousness evolution. There is a great distinction between just living mechanically and being engaged with life on Earth. Galleries | Misitio

Earth's climate is warming due to our negligence in having too little compassion for the rock we live on. We did not create Earth, we do not sustain Earth, but it is in our power to care for and maintain her well-being. The seven swords piercing Mary's chest represent the seven sinful human passions that cause spiritual torment for us all. Our human greed, lust, sloth, pride, envy, gluttony, and anger are largely the components that have led to our planet's ill health, imbalance, and climate change. Pride is an excessive belief in one's abilities, a failure to see others before themselves. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is the sword that comes from beneath, unseen yet at the center of everything. Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than what one requires. To take more than your share, to not know what is enough, or when to stop. Lust is an inordinate craving for bodily pleasures. The sex trade and our obsession with perverse bodily delight have …More
