Report: Leo XIV Considers Excommunicating All FSSPX Priests

Leo XIV is considering declaring all members of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) schismatics, TribuneChrétienne.com reported on 19 June, citing anonymous sources:
"According to several observers familiar with the matter, the document currently being prepared at the Vatican could go much further than some imagine. It would not merely acknowledge a rupture affecting the bishops or superiors of the FSSPX. The repercussions could extend to the entire structure, including its approximately 700 priests, seminaries, apostolates and the faithful who regularly attend its chapels around the world."
The bishops' ordinations are scheduled for 1 July, with Bishop Alfonso de Galarreta as the principal consecrator and Bishop Bernard Fellay as the co-consecrator.
For weeks, rumours about the excommunication of all members of the FSSPX have persisted on various Catholic news blogs and among journalists.

To indiscrimately excommunicated a traditional group, and not a wild liberal one shows that the person in authority is two fries short of a Happy Meal.

It would be an act that would damn his Pontificate forever. In addition to his many other transgressions, such a diabolical thing would poison and pollute his Papacy and its legacy till the end of time.

Why Leo XIV’s Encyclical Is Contradictory on Just War

The encyclical Magnifica Humanitas is internally inconsistent in its treatment of just war theory. That writes Manfred Spieker, emeritus professor of Christian Social Sciences, on Herder.de on June 16. While he generally praises Leo XIV’s reflections on artificial intelligence, he challenges the encyclical’s call to “overcome” the traditional doctrine of just war.
Magnifica Humanitas, drawing on Fratelli Tutti, offers two reasons for moving beyond just war theory: first, that nearly every war in recent decades has been presented as justified, and second, that modern weapons make war an unacceptable solution.
Spieker finds neither argument convincing. Regarding the first, he writes: “If everyone who wages a war appeals to this doctrine, it remains necessary to examine who is justified in doing so and who is not.”
He adds: “Those who falsely invoke this doctrine will face criticism or rejection. But that does not make the doctrine of just war obsolete.”
Nor do modern weapons invalidate …थप

Catholic bishops of England and Wales react to reintroduction of assisted suicide bill

The Catholic bishops of England and Wales are “deeply disappointed” that an assisted suicide bill will again be back in Parliament, calling instead for improvements in palliative care.
On Wednesday, Labour member of Parliament (MP) Lauren Edwards
reintroduced the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which passed a vote in the House of Commons in June 2025 but failed to pass the House of Lords when it ran out of time in April.
The bill today received its first reading in the House of Commons, officially marking the return of the bill in Westminster.
Responding to the news that it would be reintroduced, in a June 15 statement Archbishop John Sherrington of Liverpool, lead bishop for life issues at the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, expressed his deep disappointment and criticized the “flawed” legislation, saying: “The Catholic Church opposes this bill in principle and joins with many other people of faith and none in arguing that we should not cross this watershed.” …

Worse than Germany: Argentine Priest Celebrates World Cup at Eucharist: On June 15, parish priest Carlos Costale of Río Cuarto, Argentina, posted a video showing World Cup fan props used during an Eucharist celebration. One of the props was a paper bus labeled “La Scaloneta,” the popular nickname for Argentina’s national football team under Lionel Scaloni. The parish priest is known for his theatrical liturgical experiments, including mixing a fruit salad during a Pentecost Eucharist.

State Infiltration of the Church in Vietnam

The report Freedom of Worship: A False Reality in Vietnam was released in June 2026 by the International Christian Concern (ICC). It shows efforts by Vietnam's Communist Party to influence the Catholic Church through indirect means.
ICC is a Washington, D.C.-based "non-denominational" human rights advocacy nonprofit founded in 1995 to document the persecution of Christians worldwide.
The report argues that the Catholic Church occupies a unique position among Vietnam's religious communities. Unlike most other recognized religious organizations, it is not directly integrated into a state-controlled structure.
Three Control Strategies
According to the report, the Communist Party employs three principal strategies to control religious communities, drawing on a 2023 analysis by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).
The first, substitution, involves outlawing historically independent religious organizations and replacing them with state-controlled alternatives, …थप

"The Apostles were very much troubled, and each one of them exclaimed: ‘Lord, is it I?’ for they were all perfectly aware that they did not entirely understand his words. Peter leaned towards John, behind Jesus, and made him a sign to ask our Lord who the traitor was to be, for, having so often been reproved by our Lord, he trembled lest it should be himself who was referred to. John was seated at the right hand of Jesus, and as all were leaning on their left arms, using the right to eat, his head was close to the bosom of Jesus. He leaned then on his breast and said: ‘Lord, who is it?’ I did not see Jesus say to him with his lips: ‘He it is to whom I shall reach bread dipped.’ I do not know whether he whispered it to him, but John knew it, when Jesus having dipped the bread, which was covered with lettuce, gave it tenderly to Judas, who also asked: ‘Is it I, Lord?’ Jesus looked at him with love, and answered him in general terms. Among the Jews, to give bread dipped was a mark of …थप

‘The Complete Visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich’ ~ ‘The bitter passion of our Lord Jesus Christ’ ~ part 3 ~ MEDITATION VI; ‘The Last Pasch.’

[Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich; XVIII-XIX Century; born: 8 September 1774 Flamschen, Coesfeld, Prince-Bishopric of Münster, Holy Roman Empire/ died: 9 February 1824 (aged 49), Dülmen, Kingdom of Prussia, German Confederation; mystic, Marian visionary and stigmatist; Roman Catholic Augustinian canoness]
MEDITATION VI ~ The last Pasch
Jesus and his disciples ate the Paschal Lamb in the supper-room.
They divided into three groups. Jesus ate the Paschal Lamb with the twelve Apostles in the supper-room, properly so called; Nathaniel with twelve other disciples in one of the lateral rooms, and Eliacim (the son of Cleophas and Mary, the daughter of Heli), who had been a disciple of John the Baptist, with twelve more, in another side-room.
Three lambs were immolated for them in the Temple, but there was a fourth lamb which was immolated in the supper-room, and was the one eaten by Jesus with his Apostles. Judas was not aware of this circumstance, because being engaged in plotting his betrayal …थप

"Our Lord cut up another lamb which was carried to the holy women in one of the buildings of the court, where they were seated at table. The Apostles ate some more vegetables and lettuce. The countenance of our Divine Saviour bore an indescribable expression of serenity and recollection, greater than I had ever before seen. He bade the
Apostles forget all their cares. The Blessed Virgin also, as she sat at table with the other women, looked most placid and calm. When the other women came up, and took hold of her veil to make her turn round and speak to them, her every movement expressed the sweetest self-control and placidity of spirit."

End of an Era: Jesuits Withdraw from Murcia: The Society of Jesus has closed its last remaining community in Murcia, Spain, ending its resident presence in the Diocese of Cartagena. Jesuit Provincial Fr. Enric Puiggròs said the closure is part of a "restructuring" driven by a lack of vocations and the aging of the order's members. The Jesuits' presence in Murcia goes back to the 16th century, shortly after the founding of the Society of Jesus in 1540.

The last Jesuits of the Region bid farewell as they close their Santo Domingo community in Murcia due to 'the scarce vocations and our unavoidable aging'

SSPX: Both Sides of the Controversy | Fr. Gerald Murray, J.C.D. & Fr. Jonathan Loop, FSSPX

VIDEO LINK: youtube.com/watch?v=3ulFHIKFgd8
This special four-hour episode confronts one of the most consequential questions facing the Catholic Church today: is the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) on the right side of history? The SSPX’s Fr. Jonathan Loop argues that a continuing crisis in the Church has created a state of necessity that can justify extraordinary measures to preserve Catholic tradition and the priesthood. Fr. Gerald Murray does not think those extraordinary measures are justified and that the SSPX’s misapplication of canon law undermines the Church's divinely established authority.

St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto has gone full pride

St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto has gone totally pride. From flying the pride flag to rainbow sidewalks to the Drag Show. "Display your pride." It's all about pride in pride.
In 2024, in a letter to a Toronto city councillor the St. Michael's President David G. Sylvester writes:
The St. Michael’s College Student Union (SMCSU) has requested that a Pride crosswalk with rainbow colours be painted between the John M. Kelly Library and Elmsley Place on St. Joseph Street. The University of St. Michael’s College administration and I enthusiastically support this proposal and commit to the costs associated with the project, as outlined to us, on the University’s behalf.
St. Michael’s is a place that welcomes and celebrates the infinite God-given dignity of those who identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Leo XIV Confirms November Return to Peru

Leo XIV intends to visit Peru during the first half of November, Peruvian President José María Balcázar announced following a private audience with the Pope.
Peru would be the centerpiece of a broader South American tour that may also include Argentina and Uruguay.
Although the Vatican has not yet published an official itinerary, Balcázar said Leo XIV personally confirmed that he plans to be in Peru in November.
The proposed itinerary would include Lima, Chiclayo, Piura, Pucallpa and Cusco, with additional visits to Puno and Iquitos also under consideration.
The visit could last between eight and ten days.
Balcázar said Peru has offered helicopters to assist the Pope in reaching remote towns in northern Peru and the Amazon region, reflecting his desire to visit as many local communities as possible.
Argentina, the homeland of Francis, was never visited by him during his thirteen years as pope. A visit by Leo XIV would mark the first papal trip to Argentina since 1987.

Irish Catholics Recall Historic Visit of St Thérèse Relics | Shalom World News
A large number of faithful gathered at Whitefriar Street Church in Dublin on Sunday to mark 25 years since the relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux first visited Ireland. The event commemorated the saint's historic 2001 pilgrimage, which drew an estimated three million people during an 80-day journey across the country. Organized by the Carmelite family in collaboration with the Sweeney family, the anniversary celebration included Mass, veneration of relics, and an exhibition of photographs, memorabilia and artefacts linked to St Thérèse and her family. Organizers said the day was a celebration of a visit that continues to inspire devotion across Ireland.
