James Martin in Mourning: Archbishop, Champion of Decadence, Dead
A church musician, consultant at Vatican II, and former Abbot Primate of the Benedictines, he was one of the great stars of modernism, a darling of the oligarch media, and a preacher of decadence. Paul VI appointed him to Milwaukee in 1977.
But shortly before his 75th birthday, it was revealed that in the 1980s he kept a male lover to whom the Milwaukee Archdiocese had paid $450,000 to avoid a lawsuit and cover up a scandal. In 2002 Weakland retired.
In 2009, it was revealed that he had shredded reports about homosexual abusers in the priesthood, and he admitted that he had continued to appoint them without warning anyone.
Weakland apologised in his autobiography by saying that he did not understand that homosexual abuse was a crime [because the oligarch media cheered paedophilia at the time].
Weakland was less generous towards the faithful of the Latin Mass. He treated them like lepers. In 1985, he even forced every worshipper to show a paper at the entrance of the chapel to be admitted to Mass (below).
After his death, homosexualist James Martin SJ called Weakland on Twitter.com a "friend" and said he mourned his loss.
