Australian Bishop Needed to Be "Cleansed"

Bishop Kenneth Howell, 65, had to be "cleansed by smoke" outside Toowoomba cathedral, Australia, before being installed as the new bishop. The July 11 ritual, which looked like a barbecue, was performed by Janine Mayer, who explained that she wanted to “bring healthy positive vibes, and to cleanse and remove any past negative energies.” After being "cleansed", Howell took a pinch of sandalwood to pop it into the smoke and made a wish (pictured) while the faithful might wish for a better bishop.

I'm from Australia and this "inculturation" (i.e., bowing down to false gods in a vain attempt to curry favor with the indigenous folk) nonsense is all too common.
Seriously, the only cleansing the bishop needs is of his conscience in the sacrament of confession and from the modernist gibberish he no doubt believes.
Perhaps, instead, the good bishop could take as an example Ss. Nabor and Felix, on whose feast day he was installed. According to their acts they were both soldiers who refused to sacrifice to the gods worshipped by the Empire and were therefore beheaded.
