Leo XIV: "You Cannot Be Against Abortion But For Death Penalty"

At the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Universidad Católica Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo (USAT) in Chiclayo, Peru, in 2023, Cardinal Prevost aligned himself with the radical views of the pro-homosexual Chicago Cardinals Joseph Bernardin (1928-1996) and Blase Cupich. A video excerpt of the speech is below.

Cardinal Prevost said: "Allow me to share reflections drawn from the discourses and insights of three cardinals - all from Chicago: Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, who was Archbishop of Chicago in the 1990s; Cardinal Blase Cupich, who is currently the Archbishop; and myself, as you know, born in Chicago."

Cardinal Prevost praised Cardinal Bernardin's historic speech at Fordham University in New York forty years ago: "It presented a new way of thinking about how the Church might respond to ethical challenges and problems that arose both at that time and continue to arise today."

Cardinal Bernardin invented then his "consistent ethic of life", Cardinal Prevost recalled: "Bernardin’s vision suggested understanding the Church’s moral teachings as responding holistically to the many challenges affecting human life, as if they were threads woven into a single garment."

[Note: Bernardin's concept of the "seamless garment" claims that all life issues such as abortion, migration, war, poverty, death penalty should be addressed with the same moral seriousness. This sparked a decade-long dispute in the USA. Catholics argued that abortion is a preeminent moral issue. Bernardin's approach weakened and divided of the U.S pro-life movement].

In his 2023 speech, Cardinal Prevost continued his praise of Bernardin: "This perspective outlines a path for the Church, one which remains relevant today. For instance, a Catholic cannot truly claim to be ‘pro-life’ by maintaining a stance against abortion while simultaneously advocating in favor of the death penalty. Such a position would lack coherence with Catholic social teaching."

In his speech, Cardinal Prevost associated himself completely with the immorality of Bernardin, Cupich and Francis:

"I propose that we again embrace Cardinal Bernardin’s proposal—perhaps now more urgently than ever. Building upon Bernardin’s foundation, Cardinal Cupich has recently suggested reclaiming and further developing the concept of the consistent ethic of life, expanding it into what he calls a new, integral ethic of solidarity. By embracing this proposal, the Church can offer a precious gift to the People of God and indeed to all who seek the common good. If the Church takes seriously Pope Francis’s call to embody a synodal Church, we must instill an 'integral ethic of solidarity' [from Cupich] into every dimension of our lives."

[Note: Cardinal Bernardin, who lost his father at the age of six, was suspected and accused of being a practising homosexual by several Catholic authors, including Randy Engel and Matt Abbott. Psychiatrist Richard Sipe said that several seminarians and priests claimed homosexual sins with Bernardin.]

Pope Leo is a heretic because the condemnation of abortion is an infallible doctrine of the Catholic Church and the death penalty is not.

Even Prevost's conclusion, which appears in the title, is not true. Although it may seem Catholic, it is not, for when Jesus Christ himself said that it was better for a man who caused scandal among the little ones to have a millstone placed around his neck and be thrown into the sea, he was referring to the legitimacy of capital punishment, to the right of civil justice to punish the criminal. Saint Thomas Aquinas approved the handing over of obstinate heretics to the civil authorities for physical extermination. In Scripture, we clearly read that Timothy teaches that the weight of the Law falls on those who break it.
1 Timothy 1:9-12
Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for the just man, but for the unjust and disobedient, for the ungodly, and for sinners, for the wicked and defiled, for murderers of fathers, and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 For fornicators, for them who defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and whatever other thing is contrary to sound doctrine,
11 Which is according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which hath been committed to my trust.
12 I give thanks who hath strengthened me, even to Christ Jesus our Lord, for that he hath counted me faithful, putting me in the ministry;

I strongly disagree.

Let Cardinal Prevost words be condemned.

This is mixing apples with rocks. Abortion is ALWAYS a sin, but the death penalty, when used justly, is NOT a sin. This is what the Catholic Church taught before V2, and it cannot be changed.

Bernardin was homosexual and Satanist. Why do you praise him, Prevost? Do you identify with him, in his behavior as well as in his thinking? Who inspired the Prevost cross, enthroned Satan …

Why, that isn't what the Church teaches, is it?

Quoting perverts and heretics, he said heresy and perversion.

That is heresy.

A just death sentence with time certain is a great charity as the sinner has a great opportunity to obtain and maintain the state of grace before death. How many in prison for life maintain sanctifying grace?
