Saint Jose Isabel Flores Varela Additional Memorial 21 May as one of the Martyrs of the Mexican Revolution Profile Seminarian at Guadalajara, Mexico. Parish priest at Zapotlanejo, Jalisco, Mexico in 1900. Strong and gentle father to his flock, he refused to abandon his parish during the persecutions of the Church by the government; he went into hiding, and ministered covertly to his parishioners. The mayor of Zapotlanjejo, Jose Orozco, was virulently anti-Catholic, and offered a reward for the capture of any priest. Father Jose was betrayed for this reward, and arrested; his Judas was Nemesio Bermejo, an ex-seminarian who lived with Flores. Flores was offered his freedom if he would accept the anti-Church Calles government; he declined. Orozco turned the Zapotlanejo rectory into a jail, threw Flores into it, gave him no food or water for three days, played music outside the gaol so he could not sleep, and repeatedly offered him freedom in exchange for cooperation; Father Jose declined. …Mai
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:19-20 Let’s talk about Rosary group recitation, its benefits and why our souls need communal prayer to appease the anger of God, merit mercy and pay for our sins. In Heaven, they praise Him unceasingly. The Heavenly court pray in common, night and day, the angels and the blessed unite to praise Him unceasingly. Our Lord accompanies us when we are united in prayer. “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” - Matthew 18:19-20 Yet, how can I start or find a group Rosary? Family is the easiest place to start because natural charity already exists between kin, therefore, there is less resistance to unity. Set a time to join in prayer, when you have young children, it’s best to choose a time after a meal, for that is when they are most amiable. For those who may not have family members at hand to pray with or divergent schedules conflict with gathering together. Explore church …Mai

Churches in communion with Rome Who are the Christians of Iraq? A long history … After periods of Mongol, Turkoman, and Safavid rule, Mesopotamia fell under the Ottomans, whose empire lasted until the First World War in the early 20th century. It was during the Ottoman period that the East and West Syriac Churches – the Chaldean Catholic Church and the Syriac (or Syrian) Catholic Church, respectively – were formed. The Syriac Catholic Church was created when a Jacobite patriarch united with Rome in the 18th century. The Bishops who did not enter into full communion with Rome formed the Syriac Orthodox Church. Today’s Chaldean Catholic Church dates from 1830, when the historical patriarchate of the Church of the East was united with an earlier Chaldean branch created in the 17th century. An even-earlier Chaldean union from the 16th century subsequently separated from Rome and developed into what are today the Assyrian Church of the East and the Ancient Church of the East. Trump Was Right. The War Ended With a Surrender. June 20, 2026 nytimes.com/…6/06/20/opinion/trump-iran-republica… By Nicholas Kristof Opinion Columnist President Trump declared in March that a deal to end his war with Iran would require “unconditional surrender,” but that wasn’t quite right. The preliminary agreement he just reached with the Iranian regime was more like a conditional surrender — by the United States. In the past few days, various Republicans and war hawks have emerged, seemingly bewildered, to criticize the deal. “Trump has surrendered to Iran,” wrote Erick Erickson, a conservative commentator. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas warned, “Giving billions of dollars to theocratic lunatics who want to murder us is not a good idea.” The criticisms are correct: The Iran deal is a major setback. It gives immediate relief to Iran, including the prompt unfreezing of billions of dollars of Iranian assets and later a $300 billion fund to help rebuild Iran. And it appears to open …Mai
Fri Jun 19, 2026 - 4:54 pm EDT (LifeSiteNews) — In Madrid, a church has set up TV screens for visitors to come watch Spain’s World Cup before the tabernacle, which is shrouded with a red curtain. In Innsbruck Cathedral in Austria, people gather to eat pasta and socialize at a long table in front of another tabernacle, this one left exposed. Meanwhile, a group of pilgrims traveling with a Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) priest were denied permission to offer the Latin Mass three times in three different cities in Italy. At San Giovanni Rotondo, they were forced to assist at Mass in a hotel basement. At Assisi, they learned that an Orthodox Divine Liturgy was taking place even as they were refused the ability to offer the TLM. Catholic commentator Chris Jackson recently highlighted how these recent scenes are emblematic of what the postconciliar Church has become, revealing a larger pattern of exploiting instead of honoring the sacred. The full import of these events, however …
Actually it's 56 countries against Russia and those who want to kill President Putin. And it's not that they are unable to stop Ukraine or expel them. It's how Putin prefers to go slow to save lives on both sides. But if he wanted to, They would have taken what is theirs long ago. A bunch of bullies trying to break Russia and Kill their President. So far he has been untouchable. And Russia is still doing pretty awesome with everything they are throwing at them and Putin. The Blessed Mother has done an excellent job! It's not Putin's time to go. GOD still has work for him. Maybe wants him alive for his conversion. I can only hope and pray for that. He is an exceptional human being with the patience of a Saint. May GOD Bless him always And The Blessed Mother keep him safe till he can convert before GOD takes him.
The Bishop of Aberdeen has warned Catholics not to attend the planned episcopal consecration of Fr Michael Mary on Papa Stronsay, saying any such ordination would be unlawful and a grave act of disobedience
18/06/2026News Today news has reached the Diocese of Aberdeen that the Superior General of the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer, V. Rev. Fr Michael Mary, F. Ss.R, intends to be consecrated as a bishop on 25th July on the island of Papa Stronsay in Orkney. This ordination would be celebrated without a papal mandate, by a group of bishops who deny that Our Holy Father Pope Leo XIV is actually the pope. Since this consecration is due to take place within the geographical boundaries of the Diocese of Aberdeen, I am obliged to make clear to the faithful of the Diocese that any such episcopal ordination would be unlawful and a grave act of disobedience, separating those taking part from communion with the Catholic Church. No member of the faithful should attend. This action is not “for the good of the Catholic Church” as is falsely claimed. This development is greatly to be regretted and we can only pray that those concerned have a change of heart. +Hugh Gilbert OSB

Natural England and MPs are urging the government to change its livestock rules to stop ponies on Dartmoor from potentially being culled. Semi-wild ponies have roamed Dartmoor for more than 4,000 years and have become uniquely suited to the boggy landscape, providing a charming sight for those who visit the national park. There was therefore widespread outrage after reports that the government quango Natural England could cause a cull of up to 90% of the ponies, with the Conservative party calling for the government body to be reviewed and possibly stripped of its powers. However, sources at the quango say it is the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ (Defra) policy that is at fault, as it fails to differentiate between sheep and ponies. Because the barren moors are so overgrazed, putting species including rare birds and butterflies at risk as there is no food or nesting sites for them, Natural England said there should be an aim to destock the moors by 76%.
