Sometimes, to come back to God, we think we have to cry out, because suffering holds us and doesn’t let us go. But we don’t have to scream.
Shouting is a sign that we have gone too far. We have moved away from God. God is here, let’s trust! God chases us with his Love! And his arrows are joy, peace, hope, mercy, life, love, etc.
We cry because we don’t want to live in the negation that keeps us away from God. We shout because we forgot that God is always with us. Within the walls we have created for ourselves, we believe that God is no longer there.
We locked ourselves in and closed the windows. After our cry, the storm will calm down, the dust will fall and we will have no reason to cry if we turn our heart to God.
It’s a good reflex to turn to him. Shouting is not a fault, but it’s not the end result.

A Volleyball Player Ends His Career

Ludovic Duée, 32, captain of Saint-Nazaire Volley-Ball Atlantique (SNVBA), is giving up his [pointless] sporting career to join the Canons of Lagrasse, near Carcassone, a community of the Roman Rite.
SNVBA has a significant presence in French volleyball, being the 5th national club and the 2nd regional club with a strong base of 473 members and 12 coaches.
Duée told Ouest-France.fr (24 April) that he had chosen "between a vocation and a profession". The future canon was born into a Catholic family, but his faith was awakened late in life. "I always believed in God, but I kept to the minimum," he said.
Trapped in his appartment during the Covid hysteria, he experienced loneliness, introspection and healthy existential questioning, and decided to give his life more meaning.
Founded in the 7th century as a Benedictine monastery, the Abbey of St Mary of Lagrasse was revived in 2004 by the Canons of St Augustine. The average age of the canons is 43.

1. Life is a continual battle. “Is not man's life on earth a drudgery?” (Job 7:1) If we consider only the material aspect of this battle, we are all among the vanquished. Admittedly, there is some joy and some victory. But our pleasures are as short-lived as the flowers of the field; they are soon “withered and dried up like grass.” (Cf. Ps. 101:5) Our conquests are also very insignificant; they can inflate us for a while, but they do not last long and cannot satisfy us. After death only our triumphs in virtue will persist. Moreover, whereas the joys of this life are few and fleeting, the physical and moral sufferings are innumerable. Sometimes they are so heavy and overwhelming that they cause us to despair. But surely there is a remedy for all the evils which afflict us? God is infinitely good, and He has permitted suffering. Will He not give us the means of enduring it and the medicine to cure it? In fact, Our Lord has given us a remedy for all our ills, even for the most distressing …More

Mary of Agreda about dryness in prayer - WORDS OF THE QUEEN THE VIRGIN MARY SPEAKS TO SISTER MARY OF AGREDA

Warning for the consecrated souls.
"428. Before the Most High reforms or advances those, who for any reason enter the religious state, it is no more than right, that in turning away from the world they avert also their eyes from it and blot out from their memory all its images, forgetting all that they have in so praiseworthy a manner left behind. Those that neglect this requirement and are ungrateful and disloyal toward God, will doubtlessly fall under the punishment of the wife of Lot (Gen. 19,26), and if on account of the goodness of God they do not suffer this punishment in an equally open and visible manner, they nevertheless undergo it interiorly, remaining congealed and full of dryness, without fervor or advance in virtue. Forsaken by grace they thus do not attain the end of their vocation, make no progress in religion, nor find any spiritual consolation in it, and do not merit to be visited by the Lord as children, but to be left to their own resources like unfaithful and fugitive …More

St. Catherine of Siena - God the Father about dryness in prayer /or rather lack of it/

"For through loving affection their desire has reached such union that nothing can separate it [from Me]. Every time and place is for them a time and place of prayer. For their conversation has been lifted up from the earth and has climbed up to heaven. In other words, they have shed every earthly affection and sensual selfishness and have risen above themselves to the height of heaven by the stairway of virtue, having climbed the three stairs that I symbolized for you in the Body of My only-begotten Son. At the first step they put off love of vice from the feet of their affection. At the second they taste the secret and the love of His heart and there conceive love in virtue. At the third step of spiritual peace and calm they prove their virtue, and rising up from imperfect love they come to great perfection. Thus have these found rest in the teaching of My Truth. They have found table and food and waiter, and they taste this food through the teaching of Christ crucified, My only-…More

@Billy F, one way or other, some are infiltrated, some are apostatized. And then, we have a bunch of lukewarm ones, which are neither helping the cause, but are making it much worse.
Many saints have said that when it goes about the Church enemies, the worst they are afraid of are the lukewarm Catholics.
And above all, our Lord through his Angel have said the same to us in the book of Apocalipse chapter 3.:
"I know thy works, that thou art neither cold, nor hot. I would thou wert cold, or hot.
16 But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold, nor hot, I will begin to vomit thee out of my mouth. 17 Because thou sayest: I am rich, and made wealthy, and have need of nothing: and knowest not, that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked."

Liam Ronan My cure for dryness /it happens to everyone/ is a way of saying Rosary and asking for virtues. From little book dated 1926 "Rosary Novenas to our Lady" I borrowed with some changes a certain way of saying the Rosary. I'll give you a couple of examples:
Visitation, at the end I say "I bind these snow-white roses with a petition for the virtue of Charity and humbly lay this bouquet at Thy /Mary's/ feet."
Agony in the grotto of the Garden of Gethsemane, after 'our Father and Hail Marys' I say: I bind these blood-red roses with a petition for the virtue of Resignation to the Will of God, and humbly lay this bouquet at Thy feet."
One more example - Coronation of our Blessed Mother in Heaven as Its Queen, I say after the prayers "I bind these yellow roses with a petition for the virtue of Union with Thee, and humbly lay this bouquet at Thy feet."
I also ask to bind these roses with my children /and others/ for their health and salvation.
That way, even if I don't put too much feeling …More

@andrew24157 I have to confess that I am not certain what it means to 'say your rosary well', or fervently, or devoutly. Those terms have always made me feel that reciting the rosary every day and not 'feeling' something is to be missing something irreplaceably important. There are people who suffer from dryness in prayer; sometimes for years. Is that saying the rosary well?
