Isaiah 6: The Call—The Pedagogy of God X - Fides et Ratio | Reflections on life from a theological and rational perspective

Made in the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:26), every person is summoned to holiness. Jesus, true God and true man, is our flawless pattern (Phil. 2:5–11). As “the pioneer and perfecter of our faith” (Heb. 12:2), He lived what He taught, formed in the hidden years by Mary and Joseph’s fidelity, love, and sacrifice (Luke 2:51–52). Their home was the first school of discernment, obedience, and perseverance virtues that prepared Him for His public mission.
The baptism of Jesus mirrors the structure of Isaiah’s call (Isa. 6:1–9). In Isaiah’s vision, the prophet beholds God’s glory, receives purification through the seraph’s coal, and is commissioned for his mission. At the Jordan, the heavens open (vision), the Spirit descends (purification and anointing), and the Father’s voice sends forth the Son (commission) (Matt. 3:16–17; Mark 1:9–11; Luke 3:21–22). Though without sin, Jesus humbly submits to baptism in solidarity with sinners, fulfilling the Law and sanctifying the waters …

Why They Are Taking Away Your Traditional Latin Mass
The past week has been buzzing with rumors to the effect that Leo XIV has instructed the Dicastery for Divine Worship to issue “extensions” on the TLM whenever bishops ask for them. In this way, as
Kevin Tierney explains, he has begun the practical repeal of
And yet… even if the rumor is true (the nuncio to Great Britain has affirmed it with a classic non-denial), it still means that the fate of the TLM is left latent schism”—remain official and operative.
Which brings me to the point of this post.
Very often people will ask, as I myself asked for years: “Why in the world would the Church’s leaders persecute some of the most faithful Catholics—those who form the TLM communities?”
The answer is not an agreeable one, but sometimes we must take bitter medicine in order to get well. Truth can be the bitterest of medicines. And of all the sicknesses in the Church, denial of reality is one of the most widespread and most unacknowledged …

Fr. Ripperger calls bad clergy the 'worst chastisement' from God - LifeSite

(LifeSiteNews) — The worst chastisement God can inflict on his people is bad clergy, Exorcist Father Chad Ripperger pointed out during a Q&A session at the 2025 Call to Holiness Conference in Michigan.
Asked his thoughts on whether the world is undergoing a prophesied chastisement, Ripperger said, “Before there’s any physical chastisement, there’s usually a spiritual chastisement.”
He highlighted the declaration of St. John Eudes that bad priests are “the worst chastisement that God can mete out on a people,” adding that he thinks we are already undergoing this spiritual chastisement.
In his book
The most evident mark of God’s anger and the most terrible castigation He can inflict upon the world are manifested when He permits His people to fall into the hands of clergy who are priests more in name than in deed, priests who practice the cruelty of ravening wolves rather than charity and affection of devoted shepherds …
When God permits such things, it is a very positive proof that …

Pope Leo XIV on illegal immigration, after USCCB statement: “No one has said that the United States should have open borders. I think every country has a right to determine who and how and when people enter.” Continues that the statement issued by the US Bishops should be considered in full context with consideration of the dignity of the human person.

There is also the assumption that none of this harms anyone as long as you manage to stay here for a long time and don't get caught, but all of this harms society in one way or another. I feel uncomfortable allowing lawlessness based on the length of stay in the country.

Contrary To Media Claims, Deporting Illegal Alien Criminals Will Save Taxpayers More Than It Costs - Fides et Ratio | Reflections on life from a theological and rational perspective

Bill those responsible
if these illegal aliens commit a crime resembling the most serious crime that they have previously been convicted or charged with, the victimization costs amount to
at least $166.5 billion. The National Institute of Justice estimated the costs to victims by including medical bills, lost wages, social/victim services, property loss/damage, police/fire service costs, and pain and suffering.
The costs of crime are roughly at least 21 times higher than deportation costs.

Pope Leo XIV The First 100 Days II - Fides et Ratio | Reflections on life from a theological and rational perspective

II. Education & Dissertation
Before Robert Francis Prevost became Pope Leo XIV, his mind was already deeply immersed in questions of authority, obedience, and how religious life should be structured in service to truth. His education and the doctoral work he completed offered early hints of what his pontificate might hold.
After finishing his undergraduate studies (B.S. in Mathematics at Villanova in 1977), Prevost entered the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago for his theological formation.¹ The Augustinian Order then sent him to Rome in his late twenties to study canon law at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas, the Angelicum.² He professed solemn vows in the Order of Saint Augustine in 1981, and during those years his studies combined academic rigor with the lived experience of religious commitment.³
He earned the licentiate in canon law in 1984.⁴ Soon after, he embarked on a more ambitious path: a doctoral dissertation defended in 1987, titled
In his doctoral work …

I have determined that the problem with the Church, if that can be said, is that Catholics do not strive with all their hearts and minds to keep the presence of God. If we could see Our Blessed Lord we would always be on our best behaviour but we live as if He were absent except when we have formal times of prayer. It's very sad because the supernatural vision we have is diminished or lost. If only we all believed that God can make us great saints.
Also that our desire is often weak and we don't beg Him to increase it. It is also very sad to see Catholics worrying or being anxious. I deleted my google account and am withdrawing from the internet because I have looked too many years at hand wringing Catholics and it is disturbing.
I'm not saying this in any way in relation to what you have posted, I just saw that you had followed me and so thought you might be interested in my thoughts :)
We must work to encourage one another. There is a YouTube channel I only discovered after deleting …More

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò: FREMET ET TABESCET

Regarding the scandalous Doctrinal Note “Mater populi fidelis”
The Doctrinal Note presented in the past few days at the Vatican, with only its Latin incipit, Mater Populi Fidelis, constitutes yet another scandalous affront from a treacherous and deviant Hierarchy, which for over sixty years, in an unstoppable crescendo, has used its authority to speciously impose its own doctrinal and moral deviations on Catholics, with the aim of dismantling the Catholic Church and losing souls. The haste—one might almost say the fury—to destroy is such that it also highlights the contradictions existing within the synodal body itself, afflicted by a significant pathological bipolarism: on the one hand, it declares the Marian title of Co-redemptrix attributed to the Virgin Mary to be improper, and on the other, it promotes John Henry Newman to Doctor Ecclesiæ, who had defended that title against the Anglicans after their attack on the dogma of the Immaculate Conception.
The indignation and sense …More

‘Miracles of St. Antonio of Padua’ ~ Chapter I – Miracles during his life; pages 17-19; point 3

[St. Anthony of Padua XII-XIII Century AD; Lisbon, Kingdom of Portugal/Padua, Holy Roman Empire; Doctor of the Church]
“The words were barely out of the saint s mouth before a great commotion was noticed in the sea. Thousands of fishes of every size and species were seen to come in the greatest order to its surface, the smaller ones placing themselves in front, and the larger ones behind. Then began one of the most extraordinary sermons ever preached. The saint addressed them as if they were beings endowed with reason.
“Oh! ye fishes of the deep, praise and thank your God and Creator for the unspeakable blessings He has lavished on you, favoring you above all dumb animals. See and admire the beautiful home He, in His infinite goodness, has prepared for you; look at those crystal waters, in which it is so easy for you to find a refuge against the storm and the enemy. Not only has He provided for all your wants, but He has made you prolific above all other creatures. You alone have been …More

Priest alleges Cardinal McElroy engaged in homosexual affairs - LifeSite

WASHINGTON, D.C., (LifeSiteNews) — A whistleblower archdiocesan priest whom Cardinal Robert McElroy has asked the Vatican to laicize has alleged that McElroy has been involved in three homosexual affairs over the years before being appointed archbishop of Washington.
Father Michael Briese ratcheted up his public accusations against McElroy after the cardinal reportedly refused the priest’s request for a meeting. Briese, whose previous allegations — which McElroy dismissed as defamatory — were focused on years-long predatory clergy sexual abuse cover-ups by McElroy and his predecessor, Cardinal Wilton Gregory.
Briese’s latest round of allegations took aim at the cardinal-archbishop’s personal life.
In an open letter published on November 1, Briese suggested in explicit, graphic terms that McElroy had engaged in sodomic practices over the 40 years of his priesthood.
The incensed priest accused McElroy of “lifelong infidelity to celibacy and living a moral priesthood,” and said, “…
