Priestly Ordinations for 'Heralds of the Gospel' Unblocked After Years of Suspension

The Heralds of the Gospel announced on April 5 in São Paulo that priestly ordinations will resume in April 2026, following a suspension in place since 2019.
31 acolytes will be ordained as deacons on April 11 and 26 deacons to the priesthood on April 12.
The ordinations concern members of the clerical society of apostolic life Virgo Flos Carmeli, which is associated with the Heralds of the Gospel.
The diaconal ordinations will be conferred by Fernando José Monteiro Guimarães, archbishop emeritus of the Military Ordinariate of Brazil. The priestly ordinations will be presided over by Raymundo Damasceno Assis, archbishop emeritus of Aparecida and Pontifical Commissioner.
Ordinations within the Heralds had been suspended following a Vatican intervention that began in 2017 and was reinforced in 2019 with the appointment of a Pontifical Commissioner.
During this period, candidates for ordination remained in a state of waiting, and no formal public accusations or clear timeline for resolution …More

Moroccan Man Arrested After Ax Attack on Three Neighbors in Granada, Spain: “All Christians Must Die” – Allah's Willing Executioners

A shocking incident occurred on Monday, April 6, 2026, in the town of Montefrío (Granada, Andalusia), where a 45-year-old man of Moroccan origin attacked three local residents with an ax.
The Attack
The assault took place around 11:00 am on Fuente and Prado streets. The victims — two women and a 69-year-old man, all of Roma (gypsy) ethnicity — were walking along the street when the attacker approached them without warning and assaulted them with an axe.
He first struck the elderly man, who tried to defend himself with his walking cane. He then attacked the two women. One suffered a head trauma, while the other sustained severe hand injuries, including the amputation of a finger. One of the female victims was seriously injured.
Emergency services, including a medical helicopter, assisted the wounded, who were transferred to hospital.
The Suspect and His Statements
The attacker, a Moroccan citizen working as a seasonal farm laborer (temporero) in the area, fled the scene. He hid among …

Early Christian Communion in the Hand

As a scholar of the early Church, I was surprised to learn that the practice of communion in the hand is such a hotly debated topic; it came to my attention during the early days of the pandemic, when many dioceses required communicants to receive in this way. Whatever one thinks about the practice today and its reemergence after Vatican II, it is important that our conversation be grounded in an accurate picture of the history of this practice. Receiving communion in the hand was the common practice of the Church in both East and West for the first 800 years of Christianity, and it was certainly considered reverent by the Fathers.
In North Africa (including Egypt) the practice is mentioned by Tertullian,[1] Cyprian,[2] Augustine,[3] Cyril of Alexandria,[4] and John Climacus.[5] In Jerusalem, we have the mystagogical catecheses of Cyril of Jerusalem (or perhaps of his successor, John).[6] In Syria (what we now call Turkey and surrounding regions) it is witnessed by Basil the Great,[7] …

It may have been reverent and accepted in the early church, but the usurpers brought it back not for historical significance as they pretend but to denigrate the priesthood. The same with bringing up "the gifts". Take away the sacred and mysterious and dumb it down. reduce the priest to presider and shift all focus to the idiots in the pews and away from God. We also had Ember days and Rogation days in the "early church". Why not bring those back?

JD Vance tells Hungarians to resist the EU, 'stand up for western civilization' - LifeSite

Tue Apr 7, 2026 - 4:27 pm EDTWed Apr 8, 2026 - 6:02 am EDT
(
LifeSiteNews) — During a press conference with Hungarian President Viktor Orbán, Vice President JD Vance urged Hungarians to resist strong-arm tactics from the European Union’s powerful bureaucracy, headquartered in Brussels, that threatens the nation’s sovereignty.
“There have been too few people to stand up for western civilization,” Vance said.
“The bureaucrats in Brussels have tried to destroy the economy of Hungary. They have tried to make Hungary less energy independent. They have tried to drive up costs for Hungarian consumers, and they’ve done it all because they hate this guy (Viktor Orban),” the Vice President said.
“Why are bureaucrats in Brussels telling social media companies what information they’re giving to Hungarian voters?” he asked. “Hungarians are sovereign in their own country and they should be able to look at whatever information they would like to … without somebody in a faraway capital treating …

Cardinal Parolin Praises His Secret Deal with China

International law is invoked only when it suits one’s purposes, Cardinal Pietro Parolin told the magazine Dialoghi in its recent edition:
“Many governments have expressed outrage over the attacks on Ukrainian civilians by Russian missiles and drones, imposing sanctions on the aggressors. It does not seem to me that the same has happened in the case of the tragedy of Gaza’s destruction…”
Vatican Believes in United Nations
Furthermore, Cardinal Parolin praised the United Nations: “The Holy See continues to believe in the importance of the United Nations”.
He only adds that “vetoes have limited the UN’s capacity to intervene.”
Leo XIV in Communion with Communists' Bishops
Regarding relations with China, Cardinal Parolin said that the secret agreement from 2018 is not a concordat or a political-diplomatic agreement, but rather a regulation of the process for appointing bishops.
For him, the only decisive factor is communion with the Successor of Peter: “The fact that all bishops in …More

Major Finnish Study Finds Psychiatric Morbidity Increased with "Gender Reassignment"

A Finnish study has found that psychiatric morbidity increased over time among adolescents who underwent "gender reassignment".
Published in Acta Paediatrica and led by Professor Riittakerttu Kaltiala, the research followed more than 2,000 young people referred to gender identity programs, alongside over 16,000 matched controls, with follow-up extending up to 25 years. The study includes hormones and/or organ mutilations.
It is a nationwide observational study, not a randomized trial. Among those who received medical interventions:
- Psychiatric morbidity rose from 9.8% to 60.7% in individuals undergoing feminising treatments.
- It rose from 21.6% to 54.5% in those undergoing masculinising treatments.
The study reports that psychiatric morbidity remained substantially elevated over time.
Even after accounting for prior psychiatric history, "gender-referred" adolescents showed substantially higher psychiatric morbidity than matched peers.
Nearly 48% had already received specialist …More

The Resurrection of Christ: Further Along the Road to Emmaus — Beyond These Stone Walls

What are we to understand when we speak of the Resurrection of Jesus? Ancient Scriptures and interpretations from a brilliant theologian-pope provide amazing clues.
April 8, 2026 within the Octave of Easter
by Father Gordon MacRae with theological assistance from Pope Benedict XVI

Note: The following is Part 2 of our Holy Week post, “
The Darkness of the Cross Enlightened on the Road to Emmaus.”
In the above captioned post, we left you on the Road to Emmaus. Jesus of Nazareth had been accused of blasphemy by the Jewish Sanhedrin. He was handed over to the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate for judgment. He was placed on trial, convicted, mercilessly scourged and then crucified. Those who followed and believed in him were devastated and lost. Some had hoped to find in him the manifestation of the Kingdom of God. Some hoped for a messianic end to the tyranny of Rome and its occupation of Judea. Others hoped for redemption. All were left demoralized. All had come to ruin. This is where we left …

‘Miracles of Mary’ by Herolt; 1928 edition; Chapters XVI-XVII; pages 75-76

Chapter XVI
A certain woman used to repeat the words “ Hail Mary !
” always with great devotion. And, having to carry food to her husband in the field, because there was no one to whom she could entrust her child, she began by saying devoutly her prayer “ Hail, Mary,” and so forth, and committed her son to the Blessed Virgin in these words : “ I have no one to put in charge over my child except thee.” And so left the boy and went to her husband in the field.
But in the meantime a fire broke out in the next house and, hearing an outcry, they ran from the field to the house and found it burnt down. Grieving more for the boy than for the house and the loss of their goods the mother cried out : “ O Blessed Virgin, to thee I entrusted my son.” And they searched for the child and they found him entirely unhurt.

Catholic School in Spain Hosts Jehovah’s Witnesses Annual Event

On 2 April, the La Salle ARLEP Catholic school in Benicarló, eastern Spain, hosted an annual Jehovah’s Witnesses ceremony.
This event is known as the 'Commemoration of the Death of Christ'.
According to InfoVaticana.com, similar cult events have been held at the same venue in the past.
Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate Easter or the resurrection of Jesus, who they believe to be God's first creation, not God himself. He was raised as a spirit being, not in his body. Members of the sect annually commemorate only his death.

Few people know that for years before he became pope, Robert Prevost met most Saturdays with Francis inside the Casa Santa Marta. And in the final weeks of his life, from a hospital bed at Gemelli, Francis elevated him to the highest rank of cardinal — the act that placed him at the center of the conclave that would soon elect him pope.

Pope Leo XIV teared up this morning.
Standing at the Apostolic window at the Vatican on Easter Monday, the American pope paused mid-sentence as he tried to describe the man who had summoned him from a small diocese on Peru’s northern coast and, in the final weeks of his life, made him one of the few cardinal bishops in the Catholic Church.
The man he was mourning was Pope Francis, who died on Easter Monday last year — April 21, 2025 — after twelve years of upending the Church and infuriating the powerful.
The official anniversary of his death falls in just over two weeks, but Leo will not be in Rome to mark it. He will be in Africa, on the second major papal voyage of his young pontificate, carrying the Gospel to a continent Francis loved and visited often.
So this morning’s tribute …

“61. And if man, as says the same psalm, was crowned with glory and was constituted above all the works of the hand of the Lord, it was because the God-man, his Chief, had merited both this crown, and also that, which is borne by the angels. The same psalm adds, that, after having made man a little less than the angels, He placed him over the works of his hands: yet these very angels were works of his hands. Thus David spoke to the whole human race, when he said: God made man a little less than the angels; but although man was inferior in his nature, one Man is found who is of superior make and is set over these same angels, who were works of the hand of God. This superiority is in the order of grace, not only as far as His Divinity united to the humanity is concerned, but also in regard to the humanity itself in so far as grace was conferred by the hypostatic union. Leo XIV Sends Message to Besieged Christian Village in Lebanon

Pope Leo XIV has issued an Easter message to residents of Debel, a predominantly Christian village in southern Lebanon, currently besieged by ongoing Israeli bombardments and military restrictions. The message was delivered through Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
Leo XIV expressed “paternal closeness and tenderness” to the people of Debel and extended compassion to all civilians suffering amid the conflict in South Lebanon.
The message encouraged residents to find spiritual strength in the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, despite the “sorrow, anguish, and mourning” brought on by the violence and isolation facing the village.
The Pope also urged the community not to lose hope, assuring them that their prayers and suffering are not forgotten.
Invoking the protection of Our Lady of Lebanon, he concluded by offering his Apostolic Blessing to the people of Debel and their families.
