Paris Archbishop: Resignation Accepted

Francis accepted the resignation of Paris Archbishop Michel Aupetit, 70. The resignation followed revelations in LePoint.fr that he had an alleged 2012 affair with a woman when he was the vicar general.

Aupetit was appointed Paris Auxiliary Bishop in Februar 2013 and Archbishop in December 2017. Francis appointed retired Archbishop Georges Pontier, 78, a former president of the French bishops, as apostolic administrator of Paris archdiocese.
